The Ciudad de Pontevedra Open 2025 invites chess players from across the globe to compete from July 24 to 30, 2025, in the scenic and historic city of Pontevedra, Spain. Organizers will host the event from Thursday, July 24 to Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the University Sports Pavilion of Pontevedra. This modern and accessible venue offers a comfortable setting for serious tournament play.

⏱️ Time Control and Rounds

Players will compete in a 9-round Swiss system tournament. Each game will use the FIDE standard time control of 90 minutes per game, with a 30-second increment starting from move one.

The tournament includes two competitive groups:

  • Group A (Open): Open to all players with valid federation licenses
  • Group B (Amateur): Open to players rated under 2000 (FIDE June & July lists)

  • Group B: €40
  • Youth Players (born after Jan 1, 2005): €30
  • FM / WFM: €30
  • GM / IM / WGM / WIM: Free

Late Fee: €5 for registrations and payments after July 20, 2025

To complete registration, players must submit their full name, FIDE ID, group selection, and birth date, then send proof of payment.
