The 9th Batumi Municipality Cup 2025 will take place from July 29 to August 8, 2025, in the beautiful coastal city of Batumi, Georgia. Organized by the Municipality of Batumi in collaboration with Chess Club “NONA” and the Georgian Chess Federation, this international chess festival promises a thrilling mix of top-level competition, youth talent, and vibrant cultural ambiance. Participants will compete in multiple categories, making this event a true celebration of global chess.

The tournament will be played across 9 rounds using the Swiss system. Time controls vary slightly by category:
- Open A: 90 minutes for 40 moves + 30 minutes for the rest, with 30-second increment from move one
- Open B, C, Youth Categories: 90 minutes + 30-second increment from move one

🏆 Prize Fund & Awards
The total prize fund is 55,825 GEL. Cash prizes will be awarded in all main categories and youth events:
- Open A General: First Prize – 8,000 GEL, Top 10 prizes
- Open B: First Prize – 2,000 GEL, Top 5 prizes
- Open C: First Prize – 1,000 GEL, Top 5 prizes
- Youth U8, U10, U12 (Open & Girls): Multiple prizes per age and gender
- Blitz Event: First Prize – 400 GEL (Open), 250 GEL (Women)
- Coach Awards: Special awards based on pupil performance in youth categories
Trophies, medals, diplomas, and Batumi Municipality Cups will also be presented.

Players can register online and must confirm their registration upon arrival in Batumi. The event features several sections:
- Open A: 2200+ FIDE or titled players
- Open B: Below 2200 FIDE or unrated
- Open C: Below 1600 FIDE or unrated
- Youth Categories: U8, U10, U12 (Open & Girls)
- Blitz Tournament
All players must carry valid identification (e.g., passport) for age verification.
