The 9th International Bodensee Open 2025 invites chess players from around the world to a highly regarded international tournament set in the beautiful lakeside city of Bregenz, Austria. The event promises a week of top-level competition, hospitality, and leisure near the scenic shores of Lake Constance. Organized by Schachklub Bregenz 1920, the tournament will host both an Open and a Senior section, welcoming amateurs, juniors, seniors, and titled professionals.

  • May 25 – May 31, 2025
    15:00 – Rounds 2 to 8 (one round daily)
    Thursday, May 29, 2025: 12:00 – Blitz Tournament
  • Sunday, June 1, 2025
    09:30 – Round 9
    ~14:30 – Award Ceremony


⏱️ Time Control

  • Main Tournament: 90 minutes for 40 moves + 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with 30 seconds increment from move 1
  • Senior Open: Same time control, 7 rounds starting at 09:30 daily from May 25 to May 31, 2025

  • 9-round Swiss-system Open (FIDE and national rated)
  • 7-round Senior Open (players born in 1965 or earlier, women in 1970 or earlier)
  • Blitz tournament included during the week
  • Bye requests follow FIDE regulations
