Organized by the Kavala Chess Club and the East Macedonia & Thrace Chess Union, this FIDE-rated tournament has a rich history of attracting top-tier talent and fostering competitive excellence. ♟️ Tournament Format

• FIDE-rated Swiss System
• 9 rounds of classical chess
• Time Control: 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 15 minutes for the remainder of the game, with a 30-second increment from move one
• Four Groups:

  • Group A: Players rated over 2100 Elo
  • Group B: Players rated 1600–2099 Elo
  • Group C: Players rated under 1600 Elo
  • Group D: Players born in 2014 or later

💰 Prize Fund & Awards

The tournament boasts a total prize fund of €12,000, distributed across various categories:​

• Top finishers in each group
• Best female players
• Best junior and senior players
• Rating-based category prizes
• Local player awards

Winners will receive cash prizes, trophies, and certificates, while all participants have the chance to improve their FIDE ratings and gain valuable tournament experience.​
