⏱️ Time Control & Pairings

Premier Division uses 9 rounds at 90 minutes + 30 seconds per move and awards both FIDE and ACF ratings. Major, Minor, and Mini each use 7 rounds at 90 minutes + 30 seconds per move and award FIDE and ACF ratings. The Under 1200s event uses 6 rounds at 60 minutes + 10 seconds per move and awards ACF ratings.

The lightning program runs on 3 minutes + 2 seconds per move and awards ACF and FIDE ratings in both the Open Lightning and the Lightning ACF Under 1600 events. The Premier Division allows players to take up to two half-point byes in Rounds 1 and 2.

The tournament enforces a 30-minute default time from the scheduled start of a round. The event applies a published tie-break order to separate tied places when needed.

📝 Registration

You register online for Premier, Major, Minor, Mini, and Under 1200s through the official tournament website registration process. The organizers close entries for Premier, Major, Minor, and Mini at 12:00 on April 1, 2026, and they close entries for the Under 1200s at 12:00 on April 3, 2026.

The organizers set eligibility by rating band for each division and use ACF Standard ratings for Australia-based players. Overseas players without an ACF rating use their FIDE rating for eligibility. The event offers reduced entry fees for Under 18 players in Major, Minor, and Mini, and it offers free entry to GMs, IMs, WGMs, WIMs, and players with FIDE ratings above 2500.

The event applies a family discount when three or more family members register, and the organizers apply a 50% discount to the third and subsequent family members. Players who withdraw more than 7 days before their division starts receive a full refund less processing fees, players who withdraw within 7 days receive a 50% refund, and players who withdraw after their division starts forfeit the entry fee.

Players enter the Open Lightning and Lightning ACF Under 1600 events on the day at the venue and pay at registration.

🧾 Other

The tournament enforces strict rules for phones and electronic devices during play and inside the tournament hall. The appeals process uses an appeals committee of three players, and a player who lodges an appeal must post a AU$50 bond, which the committee can refund based on the appeal outcome.

The organizers expect players to complete all rounds and to notify the director in advance when they cannot play a round. Players who withdraw without notifying the organizers may face entry bond conditions for future events.
