Additionally, each section awards a $200 top senior prize for players who are at least 60 years old on September 7. That prize is added to any other prize won. Unrated players may not win more than $100 or a trophy, except for the top four prizes in the Open section. Moreover, prizes are non-cumulative unless a specific prize rule says otherwise. The event also offers cash brilliancy prizes and book prizes for the biggest upsets in rounds 1-5.

⏱️ Time Control & Pairings

All sections use a 6-round Swiss system. The time control is Game in 90 minutes with a 30-second increment from move one. In addition, the Open and Under 2050 sections are FIDE rated, while the full event is US Chess rated for pairings and prizes.

Players may request up to two half-point byes if they submit the request before round 3. Moreover, late entrants may receive a half-point bye for round 1 when applicable. Players in the Open and Under 2050 sections must turn in completed scoresheets after each round. Cell phones and other electronic devices are not allowed in the playing area.
