⏱️ Time Control & Pairings

The tournament uses a 10-round Swiss system under the FIDE Laws of Chess. Each player receives 90 minutes for the full game plus a 30-second increment from move one. Therefore, the event follows a full classical chess tournament structure from the opening round to the final game.

In addition, the published default time is 30 minutes from the scheduled start of the round. The organizers also form a five-member appeals committee, together with two reserve members, during the players’ meeting before the tournament begins. Any player who challenges the Chief Arbiter’s decision must submit a written protest within 15 minutes and pay a protest fee of ₹1,000.

Mobile phones, wristwatches, and other electronic devices are strictly prohibited in the tournament hall. However, players may keep switched-off bags near the table. If a device vibrates or makes a sound, the player loses the game.
