Organizers will celebrate the 16th International Chess Open Dolomites – Forni di Sopra 2025 as a premier chess event, attracting players from around the world to the picturesque town of Forni di Sopra, nestled in the Oriental Dolomites. Organized by UniChess, this tournament will offer participants the opportunity to compete in a high-level chess competition while enjoying the natural beauty and hospitality of the region.​

📅 Dates of the Event

The organizers will hold the tournament from June 7 to June 14, 2025.

⏱️ Time Control

Players will use a time control of 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the remainder of the game, with a 30-second increment per move starting from move one.

📅 Schedule

• June 7: Arrival, Registration, and Opening Ceremony
• June 8–14: Rounds 1–9 (one round per day)
• June 14: Closing Ceremony and Prize Distribution

💰 Prize Fund and Prizes

The organizers will distribute a total prize fund of approximately €5,500 among the top performers in various categories. They will award prizes based on final standings and will announce the specific amounts and categories.

📝 Registration and Participation Information

Registrations must be completed online through the official registration portal by May 31, 2025. Participation will be open to players with a valid FIDE ID. The tournament will feature two sections:​

• Open A: For players with an ELO rating above 1899.
• Open B: For players with an ELO rating below 2000.​

​Players must select the appropriate section based on their current ELO rating.​
