14th Salento International Chess Open 2025 – Ecoresort Le Sirenè
Chess Projects ASD will host the 14th Salento International Chess Open 2025 from May 17 to 25 at the picturesque Ecoresort Le Sirenè in Gallipoli, Italy. Organized by Chess Projects ASD in collaboration with Caroli Hotels, this esteemed event has become a prominent fixture in the European chess calendar. It attracts a diverse field of international players.
The tournament features multiple sections to accommodate players of varying skill levels, ensuring this competition provides competitive opportunities for everyone:
- Master Open: For players with a FIDE rating of 1900 and above.
- Main Open: For players with a FIDE rating between 1400 and 1999.
- Rising Open: For players with a FIDE rating below 1500.
- Youth Open U16: Specifically for players under 16 years of age.
MASTER, MAIN & RISING OPENS
The Master, Main, and Rising Opens will run from May 17 to 24. Each tournament consists of 9 rounds with a time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves. This is followed by 20 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment from move one. The Youth Open U16 will take place from May 22 to 25. It features 8 rounds with a time control of 60 minutes plus a 10-second increment per move. The 14th Salento International Chess Open 2025 ensures diverse challenges for all players.
A total prize fund of €4,200 is allocated across the sections. The Master Open offers a first prize of €1,000 and a trophy. Additional prizes are available for top performers in each category.
