♟️ Club Identity

Klub šachistů Říčany 1925 is a long-running chess club in Říčany, Czech Republic. The club dates to June 8, 1925 and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2025. It keeps a strong local base and remains one of the best-known chess organizers in the area around Prague. The registered address is Domažlická 1692, Říčany. Regular chess life is linked with KC U Labutě in Říčany, where the club holds much of its over-the-board activity. For local players, this means a stable place for club chess, training, and tournament play. The club combines history with steady present-day activity. That balance gives it real value for both long-time members and new players.

🏆 Tournament Activity

Tournament chess is one of the club’s clearest strengths. Klub šachistů Říčany 1925 runs Open Říčany, also known as the Cup of Říčany / Pohár města Říčany. In 2025, the event reached its 23rd edition and ran from August 23 to 30 at Kulturní centrum Labuť Říčany. The event offered a 55,000 CZK prize fund and included an opening-day blitz tournament. The club also runs the Memoriál Františka Říhy, which reached its 10th edition in 2026 and served as a regional rapid championship. Alongside these public events, the club keeps its own club championship active. This gives players a strong mix of open competition, rapid chess, blitz, and regular internal play during the season.

🌱 Youth and Club Life

Youth chess is also a real part of the club’s work. The club runs chess circles for the 2025–2026 season and continues to publish youth news, training updates, and camp information. It has also organized summer day camps and youth-focused events for younger players. Team competition adds another strong layer to the club’s profile. Official youth reports show both Říčany A and Říčany B in the Extraliga mládeže, which points to a serious junior structure. In 2025, the club also marked its 100-year anniversary with a simultaneous exhibition by GM Nguyen Thai Dai Van against 43 opponents. That event earned recognition as a Czech record. Altogether, the club offers a clear path from youth training to team play and open tournament experience.
