Federação Piauiense de Xadrez

Federação Piauiense de Xadrez is the official chess federation based in Teresina, Piauí, Brazil. It leads organized chess activity across the state and supports clubs, players, arbiters, and affiliated events. Moreover, FPIX plays a central role in the growth of the local and regional chess community.

The federation runs and sanctions a wide range of competitions, including FIDE-rated tournaments, state championships, youth events, and major opens in Teresina and other cities. In addition, it supports classical chess, rapid chess, and blitz chess through an annual calendar and cooperation with local clubs. Its work also connects Piauí players to the broader Brazilian competitive circuit.

Founded in 1994, FPIX has a long-standing place in organized chess in the state. Furthermore, it helps strengthen junior chess, club structure, and tournament development through recurring official events and public partnerships. As a result, it remains a key tournament organizer in northeastern Brazil.
