Chess Federation of Serbia

The Chess Federation of Serbia is the national chess federation and a leading chess organizer based in Belgrade, Serbia. It oversees the country’s official chess structure, including player licensing, ratings administration, and national team programs. Moreover, it serves as the primary authority for competitive over-the-board chess across Serbia.

The federation runs national championships and supports a wide calendar of FIDE-rated tournaments in classical chess, rapid chess, and blitz chess. In addition, it organizes major international events such as the Serbia Chess Open, which is positioned as a flagship open chess tournament that attracts strong domestic and foreign participation. Furthermore, it works with regional associations and local clubs to deliver a consistent tournament pathway from grassroots to elite play.

At the same time, the federation supports youth development through structured selection and training activities. As a result, junior chess and talent pipelines remain closely connected to national competition and fair play standards.
