Arkansas Chess Association

Arkansas Chess Association is the statewide chess association for Arkansas and a recognized tournament organizer within the US Chess structure. Based in Little Rock, it supports organized chess through competition, outreach, and player development across the state. Moreover, it serves as a central hub for adult, scholastic, and community chess activity.

The association runs major state events, regular open chess tournament competitions, and broader programs that promote over-the-board play. Its public activity includes the Arkansas Open, the Arkansas State Championship, and other events tied to official state-level chess competition. In addition, it operates as a nonprofit body focused on expanding structured chess opportunities in Arkansas.

Beyond tournament work, the association helps strengthen the local chess community through educational programs and community outreach. Therefore, it plays an important role in supporting both grassroots participation and competitive chess. At the same time, its statewide presence gives it lasting relevance as a trusted chess organizer in Arkansas.
