♟️ About Club d’Échecs de Payerne

Club d’Échecs de Payerne is a long-established chess organization based in Payerne, in Switzerland’s Broye region. The club welcomes children, adults, beginners, experienced competitors, and senior players who want to learn, train, compete, or enjoy social chess. It provides regular playing opportunities through its chess school, weekly club evenings, internal competitions, and team activities. Moreover, the organization maintains a dedicated club library and educational resources for members who want to improve their understanding of the game. Its playing premises are located at the former hospital building on Rue du Châtelard in Payerne.

🏆 Training, Teams and Club Competitions

The club supports player development through structured lessons for juniors and adults. Junior training takes place during the week and on selected Saturdays, while adults meet regularly for instruction and club play. In addition, Club d’Échecs de Payerne enters several teams in Swiss national and regional competitions. Its program includes the Swiss Team Championship, Swiss Group Championship, Swiss Junior Team Championship, and other interclub events. The organization also runs a varied local tournament calendar. These activities include the Open de Payerne, Grand Prix de Payerne, Tournoi du Comptoir, club championships, seasonal tournaments, rapid chess, blitz, and internal cup competitions. Therefore, members can progress from introductory lessons to serious rated competition within the same club structure.

🌍 Open de la Broye and Youth Chess

Club d’Échecs de Payerne organizes the annual Open de la Broye, one of its principal weekend competitions. The event usually runs alongside a qualification tournament for the Swiss Individual Junior Championships. It brings several junior age categories and separate open rating groups together at the Halle des Fêtes in Payerne. The club manages participant registration, tournament communication, playing conditions, schedules, prizes, technical preparation, and cooperation with the arbitral team. Furthermore, the Open gives regional club players and visiting competitors access to both rapid and classical chess within one weekend. The Swiss Chess Federation’s official 2027 calendar lists Club d’Échecs de Payerne as the organizer, with Timothée Gilliand as the published event contact.
